In the heart of the Niévre (Burgundy) you will find our domain "Table - Tableau". We, Bas and Agnes van Gaalen (Dutch), have created a centre where you can combine the burgundian pleasures with art classes, workshops in music and personal development. Workshops/courses will be given by professional artists/teachers, on an individual basis or within a group. Joining a workshop will give your holiday an extra dimension.
Host and Hostess
After Art-School we started a life full of experiences, discovery and travelling.
From boatbuilding and house renovations to crossing the oceans, adventure is in our blood. After seeing so many places, we settled down in the heart of the Nièvre. A spot where we found natural peace and quietness, space and inspiration.
Our idea was to create a place where the love for art and passion for life could come together. The beauty of nature, the location of the house and the talented people around us were the perfect ingredients for this centre.
The heart of the Nièvre
"Le Coeur de Nivernais", a province (58) in departement Burgundy. In the West runs the river Loire and in het East you will find Parc the Morvan. The landscape is varied; green hills and forest, beautiful views, and tiny villages. There a re a lot of Historical viewpoints and it is famous for its unspoiled nature, good food and wine. There are waterways such as Canal du Nivernais to make boattrips on, or to bike or stroll along, and lakes as Baye and the Vaux where you can swim and fish. Foremost is the pure quietness and healthy air, in short; ideal to enjoy your holiday and to pick up some art-feelings.
Table-Tableau
Situated in a green valley just at the edge of Mougny, a tiny village with 10 inhabitants.
In the centre of nature, with lakes such as the Vaux and the Baye at bike distance, and at walking distance Canal du Nivernais. Small villages and towns in the neighbourhood will provide hotels, B&B’s, guesthouses and camp sites, see the section Accomodation & Links. We did our very best to create a centre with inspiring spaces, working areas and terasses. All with the intention of offering you a varied program of workshops and masterclasses. This in combination with the full Burgundian life-style of good food and drinks. Most off the Workshops come with a luscious lunch, taken care off by Tanya and Agnes. The vegetables are from the region. Ruud Paase has a beautiful garden, so he provides the veggies of which the most are biological.
To be short about it, it will be a place to meet one other artistic people, in an atmosphere were there are no bounderies.
The program on this web site is given by Dutch teachers, some of them are also English speaking. Soon we will translate all of this website.
